What are our lives? For, lacking care,
We spare no time to stand and stare.
What purpose life? If we deny,
God’s gift, that should delight our eyes,
And let our spirits to Heaven soar,
Where we might earnestly Him implore,
That in solitary contemplation,
We earn our Lord’s approbation.
Surely, in our eternal youth,
We shall witness His divine truth?
As Nature bids His every command,
So shall we all, as He has planned.
What life is this if we do not care?
God gave it us, that we might stand and stare.
